Cya!
Was good spending time with you blogger but I gotta go and do my Media Exam now Cya!! Will always remember the moments we had together =] Alan Signing off!!
Farewell
It's been a good time, no? We've had our ups and downs, of course your stubborness to not allow me to freely orientate my pictures being one down. But overall I've had fun.
I think my main strengths this year have surely been in the blogging. I've been googling away and away searching for new softwares and websites to use every single week. And personally I am very proud of my progress throughout the year. The timing was rather tight as we entered the evaluation period but that was something I had to deal with and well...we've made it.
It's been a pleasure blogging about my experience from the very first day looking back at the small 1 minute clip of a music video remake to a huge project including a professional piece of ancillary work. It's absolutely astonishing what you can learn in such a short space of time. From not knowing how to open files on Final Cut Pro to editing an entire music video, this experience has taught me many skills that I won't forget. It was a joy playing a part in the music video, acting and lip syncing more than two words this time and waiting an hour for the train on a wet soggy Tuesday afternoon. There's not many things I like to hide from my friends and family, but for all the good reasons, I think my music video CD will stay locked up in a cupboard for many years.
I would like to mention a special thanks to my teachers, Marisa and Louisa who have supported me through my journey on blogger. Without their support, none of this would have been possible & to Trevor who was always a call away when the computer wouldn't listen to me. Also a mention to Einas in group 24, who didn't support me during this experience but still suggested I thank her. I hope you've all enjoyed the journey from start to finish.
I bid thee,
Farewell.

PS: Now the Blogging and Media coursework is over, I can finally get back to Saturday nights away from blogger (not that I hate you blogger) and back to my (online) social life. Here's one last technology for you. Peace.

EVALUATION QUESTION 4
Above is the amazing feedback I recieved on both my ancillary product and music video. I've spoken about the main things which I felt I've learnt and picked up from the Audience responses. I would like to give a special thanks to all my peers who gave me valuable feedback and helped me to understand the effect my media products have had on target audience.
EVALUATION QUESTION 3
As Prezi did not let me upload my animatic, I have uploaded it below. Final Cut Pro and a normal digital camera was used to create this digipak. The Animatic was useful to set me out an idea. Without the Animatic, I would probably not have had a clear idea to follow & would have had to waste time trying out different shots.
EVALUATION QUESTION 2
Take that.
Nazim 1-0 Glogster
Comparing Olly Murs' combination of his music video and digipak is very similar to ours. We both are aimed towards the same fan base and have successfully used music to improve our image. The importance of synergy within media products, is essentially to stamp down your artist with their own unique features.
Looking outside of the pop genre, other artists/groups who aim to establish themselves with a unique combination within all their products is N-Dubz. The font used by N-Dubz is carried on throughout almost all their media products. This font has become a well-known label for the band due to the way they manipulated the writing over their products. This is one way, I can see synergy benefiting an artist or group and gaining popularity for them
By looking at inspirations such as Olly Murs and N-Dubz, we have been able to understand not only how to use Synergy, but why and in what way. This has been a very insightful research, and how surely bettered my outlook on the combination of media products.

EVALUATION - MY OWN FEEDBACK
So I wanted to look back on and evaluate all my work from the very start to the very end. Let's start off with the music video:
Bearing in mind this was the first time I had anything to do with acting on camera, and more important lip syncing I think my acting was done rather well and didn't seem stiff or uncomfortable on camera. With pop artists, they've always got to put forward a fun likeable personality through the camera, and I think that with some of my (not so good) dance moves and energy, I was able to do that. In terms of the video itself, it's applying to all the conventions as well as following the plans, which was always a good thing as if we ever got stuck or confused along the way we could always refer back to our plans. Some other groups didn't do this and completely ignored their plan, this meant when some disagreements occurred over their new ideas, they didn't have anything to look at such as a plan directing them. With us, however, the plan was always out in front of us during the production and ready for us all to expand on. I think we picked 3 very good locations, which looked good on camera and matched the feeling of the music video. The lip-sync was perfect and the costume also conformed to usual conventions. We paid particular attention to the clothing in the MV, therefore had to do a lot of research to find what style of clothing is most popular among female audiences and our results showed us shirts, and smart clothing. I personally feel as though the cutting was done well and we switched across base-tracks effectively. During filming we also maintained the 'invisible line' of 180 degree's and this really helped the production of our MV as it meant that no clips were confusing to either us nor the audience. If I could go back and change one thing, it may be to improve some of the narrative or film an even better shot for the starting few seconds. Although the view across the skyline was good, I think there can be better clips recorded to introduce the song.
Now onto the ancillary. I was more-so proud of my Ancillary than any other work I had produced in my 18 years of life. I put a lot of time and dedication into this, working off teacher and peer feedback trying to improve at every step. Having a look back over it, I can proudly say that I did follow all the forms and conventions you'd expect to find. I made sure that I was aware of, and following the Do's & Dont's. The colours picked, were not out of the blue (haha see what I did there), but were chosen for a particular reason explained in my plan, as was every other layer. I think the image looks very bold and striking. This was very important, taking in mind that we have a female target audience so I feel as though the image has reached out and appealed to the target. The rule of thirds was also evidently followed as were many other conventions. The track-listing at the back along with the extended track-listing on the inside links the two panels together and 3 of the 4 panels all are linked together through the braces. The advert also features the braces, making it clear that it is combined with the digipak product and all belonging to one. I've made sure, that even with changes to the style and layout, compared to the digipak, that the synergy and link between all my media products are clear. The text is very easy to read and placed in order of importance where necessary. I've also worked out digging in the finest details to add professionalism to my work, such as the copyright info on the CD and the serial code on the spine. This has made for a better Ancillary product all over. If I could change one thing, I would possibly add in some social networking links to promote Leon Cross' twitter and facebook, keeping the fans involved and engaged on a closer level.
Putting both MV and ancillary together. I feel as though I've been successful in creating two media products which are of great standard and follow the usual styles which we see in the modern pop era. My research has enabled me to create a replicate of what we see among famous pop-stars and take inspiration from the many ways they build their characters and promote their own work. This has been a very long and fun period, during which I produced both products. But as I look back, I think that is was very successful, and I cna now be proud of my efforts

Audience Feedback on Survey Monkey
I created a survey, in which I gave to a female as the target audience, in our age range so that she could give me feedback on my media products, especially my ancillary. This was useful in collecting what stood out, and what she notices because she is ultimately the target audience that I am trying to promote too. She gave me some good feedback, for example the black font stood out across all of my ancillary products, which indicates that I have achieves synergy as well as capturing the audiences attention, by the simplistic black font.
Ancillary - Finished Product
Ancillary - Planned, Tweaked, Improved, DONE!
Below are my 3 Ancillary products, the front cover of my Digipak, the back, and the advert. Now that it is completed I can finally sigh a breath of relief. I feel pleased with the work I put it, and worked to my plans as much as possible. I carried on my main ideas and styles, whilst also working with teacher feedback to improve synergy across all products. Since the draft, I added on the background to the inside left side and also completed the track-listing and 'thanks' on the insides. I also worked on teacher feedback, adding the braces as a background to the advert cover. Personally this wasn't in my plans, however after taking advice I was gutted that I didn't think of it first! I liked how it created clear links between all 3 products, making sure that when the album does finally come out, no-one will be able to get the image of braces out of their mind. This has been the main image which was carried across all products. I also made a few corrections, such as ensuring all title fonts are of the same style and font.
The album was also cleaned up a little. I knew at the time of submitting the draft that it was waaay too congested. My eyes did hurt a little by looking at it for too long, however now I have reduced any unnecessary text and reorganised the text layers, having the most important at the top, and the more 'less important' at the bottom (with all due respect to Sony BMG). Finally i added a black outline around the album, this made it stand out a lot better and sit clearly on the album rather than blend in & be missed out on.
Thankfully however we are finished! Now i can work on my evaluation notes and get working hard as the deadline is fast approaching!

ANCILLARY - Feedback
Front Cover/Back Cover
Change image from a close up to a mid shot as you can't sense any synergy between the close up and the rest of the album, advert and MV.
Add in the 10 digit number into the front cover
Make the size of all your track titles the same and do the same with the advert when needed

Keep the 4 stars reviews
Instead of having 4/5 stars, have 4 stars so that it looks more attractable
re-arrange information depending on how you think the audience will read it and importance of the information
